“Festival Mass” Next Sunday at Noon

Next Sunday Archbishop Cushley will be joined by representatives of other churches, the Lord Provost, members of Edinburgh City Council, and members of the Consular Corps, to celebrate the annual Festival Mass at noon at the Cathedral. Join us for this beautiful celebration of our Sunday Liturgy at the start of the week of our Cathedral’s patronal feast (the Assumption) on 15th August.

Swing with the Spirit: Sacred Jazz with the Schola Cantorum on Monday 12 August at 7:30pm

As part of this year's Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts, the Schola Cantorum choir will perform an innovative concert of sacred jazz music in the Cathedral. The performance will feature Scottish jazz legend Richard Michael, and young jazz pianist Ben Shankland, winner of the BBC Scotland Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2023. Music will include Bob Chilcot’s 'A Little Jazz Mass' and Richard Michael’s swinging 'Jubilate Deo' and 'Te Deum'. Save the date for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening! Consider Volunteering to Help in the St Pauls Bookshop

St Pauls Bookshop at the Cathedral is an activity of the priests and brothers of the Society of St Paul, whose mission is to proclaim the Good News through the means of communication. We are seeking two dedicated volunteers to assist the customers and arranging books and articles especially between 11am to 3:30pm. New Altar Servers Needed

If you have made your First Holy Communion and would like to be an altar server, please speak with Fr. Robert or email him at frrobert@stmaryscathedral.co.uk and he will let you know about the next opportunity to be trained as an altar server. Save the Date! On Saturday, 31 August, there will be a day of faith, fun and friendship at the Gillis Centre in Edinburgh for altar servers from across the Archdiocese. Details to come!

Pause for Sunday Teas & Coffees

As the Parish Rooms undergo their transformation, there will be no Sunday teas and coffees this weekend.

Ravelston Parish Rooms Update

The Rooms now have one layer of wallpaper instead of five different types and the first coat of paint on the walls. One of the bay window shutters has been released after a very, very long time. The second shutter will take more time as it is a bit more complex. Wiring for the hand dryers in both toilets is complete. The dryers will be installed after the toilets are decorated.

Archdiocesan Pilgrimage at Carfin Grotto

Join Archbishop Cushley for the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage at Carfin Grotto on Sunday 18 August 2024. A rosary procession will be held at 2:00pm, followed by Mass at 3:00pm. Explore Carfin Grotto, including its impressive Reliquary Chapel, holding one of the largest collections of relics outside of Rome. Carfin Grotto is the national shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes at 100 Newarthill Road, Carfin, (near Motherwell) ML1 5AL.

Led by the Spirit Retreat at St. Joseph’s, Broomhouse

St Joseph’s Parish, Broomhouse, Edinburgh will host a retreat on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th August 2024, led by Br Colin Calmiano, a renowned international lay preacher from Bangalore, from 2pm to 6pm both days and will include the Rosary, praise & worship and talks, concluding with Benediction each day. Reflection Group for Young Women on Religious Life
