Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year B

10am Weekday Mass - Readers Needed

Now that summer is coming slowly to a close and it will soon be Autumn, we are in need of volunteers to be Readers for the 10am weekday Mass starting in September. Ideally if we could get a handful of volunteers we would be able to create a rota going forward. If you are a current reader and are able to help out or if you would like to become a reader, please email your interest to Darlene Newman at data@stmaryscathedral.co.uk Thank you.

Informal Meeting with Local Community Police Liaison Team

However, if space permits, any other parishioners interested in attending would be welcome. Please e-mail Elizabeth Andrews at Elizabeth.Andrews@staned.org.uk no later than Saturday, 7th September, if you would like to attend, to enable us to gauge numbers attending.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to all those who helped with the organisation and smooth running of the Festival Mass last weekend. We extend our gratitude to so many, from our talented Schola and Music Director, to the teams for flower arranging and cleaning who ensured the Cathedral was in good shape to welcome the special guests and many visitors who are in town during the Festival. A word of thanks also to the passkeepers, the servers and Deacon Peter who were on hand to see to the professional running of this major event during the Festival which serves to showcase the beauty of the Catholic faith, the great tradition of Christian music and the great dignity of the human person with the unalienable right to live in true peace and harmony.

Another Thank You!

We also express our thanks for the wonderful concert on Monday evening as part of this year's Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts at which the Schola Cantorum choir performed an innovative concert of sacred jazz music in the Cathedral. The performance featured Scottish jazz legend Richard Michael, and young jazz pianist Ben Shankland. Thank you to all who supported this special event, as well as those who helped in organising it.

Cathedral Roof Appeal

Our Cathedral is 210 years old this year and, as with all old buildings, it is in constant need of attention to ensure it remains a place of worship in the city of Edinburgh for years to come. We are preparing to begin works on one stage of the vast roofs on the Cathedral thanks to the incredible generosity of the Cathedral community, but the works go far beyond stage one. We greatly appreciate any financial help you might be able to give us as we continue to preserve the beauty of this church. Donate online at www.stmaryscathedral.co.uk/donate or on the banner as you enter the church. Thank you for your support and generosity!
