Michael Ferguson

Michael was born in 1982 and grew up in Portstewart, Northern Ireland. He studied Music at Edinburgh University and graduated with a First Class Honours degree in 2006. He was subsequently awarded an Arts and Humanities Research Council Scholarship to undertake a Masters in Composition of Music for Film and Television at Bristol University, graduating in 2008 with Distinction.

Michael has also composed original music for a range of award-winning short films and animations, and his music has appeared on BBC TV, at the BAFTA Scotland Awards, and at film festivals worldwide. Most recently his scores have been heard at the BFI London International Film Festival, the Los Angeles Short Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Dublin Darklight Festival. Recent awards for collaborations have included the ITV Best of Borough 'Viewer's Choice Award' for The Beachcombers (Silvertip Films), the Dom Kino (House of Cinema) Award for 'Best Cinematic Film' for King Pawn (Lullaby Pictures / Igloo Animations), and a BAFTA Scotland nomination for The Lost Book (Binary Fable) in the 2009 'Interactive' category.
